Recognizing the need for female monastic and lay practitioners to have better access to Buddhist education, Rinpoche blessed the formation of Machig Rime Choe Chogs (non-sectaran Buddhist women’s organization) with Ani Dechen Zango, a devotee of Rinpoche, playing an instrumental role in its formation. The Machig Rime Choe Chogs has since evolved into a leading Buddhist women’s organization and provides critical support to Khachoed Pema Woeling Tsungon mobilizing people and resources, and networking with local community and the Government.

The local Buddhist community of Ranka area as well as Rinpoche’s sponsors in Gangtok are important support for the nunnery. They contribute to upkeep of the monastery and participate in various activities at the monastery including annual ‘Bumkor’ when ‘Kangyur’ -108 volumes of Buddha’s teachings - are carried out in a procession in the village so that people might receive its blessings. Another major event in which the local community participate is the annual Nyungne – a three-day fasting retreat usually coinciding with ‘Drukpa Tse Shi’ commemorating the day when Buddha first turned the wheel of Dharma.

Khachoed Pema Woeling Tsungen has been a major beneficiary of Government of India (Central Government) and State Government of Sikkim support. It has received land grants from the State Government of Sikkim for the construction of the Retreat Center and also the large Stupa. The Stupa, the hostel block and the guest house were built with Central Government funding through Swadesh Darshan Yojana In addition, grants were also received from the Ministry of Culture under its BIT program for repair and renovation of the old monastic building as well as furnishing of hostel and meditation facilities.
